Vivace Process Instruments runs interoperability tests on Profibus Competence Center

On May 2nd, Vivace Process Instrument's technical team ran interoperability tests for some of its Profibus products with several Profibus kits available on the Latin America Profibus Competence Center, located at USP-São Carlos.

These tests were executed in order to guarantee interoperability with many of Profibus-PA and Profibus-DP product manufacturers, using the following Vivace products:

  • VCI10-UP: Profibus-PA USB Interface.
  • VCI10-BP: Profibus-PA Bluetooth Interface.

These interfaces enable configuration and parameterization of Profibus-PA products using FDT/DTM-based tools or Android plattform devices. Working in local mode, they can power Profibus-PA device (disconnected from Profibus network). In network mode, they work as a Profibus Class 2 master. See more details in: Interfaces

  • VRP10-O: Profibus-PA Optical Repeater.

The optical repeater was projected to be used on Profibus-PA networks in order to allow Profibus-PA electrical interfaces (H1, 31.25 kbits/s) to be converted in Profibus-PA optical interfaces and vice-versa, enabling half-duplex and up to 4 km (2.5 miles) communication with the great benefit of EMI immunity. It works as a Profibus-PA repeater supporting 31.25 kbits/s. As optical fibers are immune to EMI/RFI and ground loops, VRP10-O guarantee signal high-integrity and availability on Profibus-PA networks.

With the advantage of optical transmission technology, VRP10-O can be integrated to Profibus networks already established, increasing tolerance to network failures. See more details in: VRP10-O
